12 January 2017 - USAID SHIFT’s Strategic Information team conducted two monitoring and evaluation (M&E) training courses for supported sites in Hanoi and Nghe An from December 21-29, 2016. Eighty-three M&E staff from eight northern provinces (Hanoi, Nghe An, Dien Bien, Bac Giang, Thai Binh, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong) participated in the courses. Building upon the participants’ experience with M&E tools introduced through the USAID SMART TA project, this training focused on introducing updated M&E tools and adjusted M&E requirements for USAID SHIFT. The training also introduced new tools for the Nghe An and Dien Bien Provincial AIDS Centers (PACs) to use in collecting and analyzing 90-90-90 data. During the training courses, SHIFT M&E staff and district and provincial M&E staff discussed the challenges and advantages of the new tools as well as addressed concerns about implementing M&E activities at project sites. The training was organized to ensure that all district and provincial M&E staff understand and can comply with new requirements for data collection and analysis under the USAID SHIFT project. The training also supports efforts to enable M&E staff at PACs, district health centers and supported sites to independently manage, monitor and ensure the quality of M&E activities.
