25 December 2017 - Injection drug use has been a significant driver of Vietnam’s HIV epidemic. As the country takes increasing ownership for its HIV response, PEPFAR and the USAID SHIFT project are enabling local stakeholders to sustain effective HIV prevention interventions such as methadone maintenance therapy (MMT). In early December the Government of Vietnam officially launched  MMT information management software (MIS) to streamline clinic operations and service monitoring across the country. The USAID SHIFT project developed communication materials which will ensure the software is well utilized across MMT sites for improved services and HIV prevention outcomes. In generating the MIS communication package, USAID SHIFT is completing its first above-site technical assistance assignment for fiscal year 2018. The project is providing local partners with technical support which will ensure the quality and sustainability of HIV-related services.
