28 August 2017 - Over the last two years USAID SHIFT and the predecessor SMART TA project helped the Vietnam Authority for HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC) develop national guidelines and tools for data quality audits and assurance (DQAs). These resources are vital to identify and resolve barriers to accurate, reliable, and timely data on HIV services across the country, from case reporting to tracking treatment enrollment and retention. After helping develop and roll out a dashboard for C03 – Vietnam’s HIV case reporting system – USAID SHIFT and VAAC trained and coached Can Tho and Thai Nguyen Provincial AIDS Centers (PACs) to complete DQAs for their province’s C03 databases, on August 9-11 (Can Tho) and 15-17 (Thai Nguyen). As a result, these national, project and provincial stakeholders identified gaps in the C03 reporting system and means to address them, and agreed on next steps to improve reporting accuracy and continue DQA practices. VAAC and participating PACs greatly appreciated the project’s support. Together USAID SHIFT and VAAC will continue shoring up local HIV data quality and systems in the year ahead.
